Here are the images I selected for 1A: Good is not the same as...

"Good" is not the same as "Useful" : For this photograph, I choose a picture I had taken during an elementary school science class I was assistant teaching for. At the time, this photograph was very useful for the sake of the experiment, despite it not being necessarily "aesthetic". We were testing mulch and its ability to sustain plant growth. This picture helped document the changes we were seeing.
"Good" is not the same as "Interesting" : This is a picture my dog. It is a photograph I had taken while trying to teach her a new trick. The goal was for her to ring the dinner bell when she was hungry. The photograph captures one of her first times ringing the bell. At the time, it was super interesting to see how she reacted, understood and applied the training we taught her. However, interesting is so subjective, so others might not be an interested in my dog pictures and that is okay! Additionally, when uploading this photo, the quality declined significantly and I was unable to fix that, my apologizes!
"Good is not the same as "Liking" : For this prompt, I choose a photography of myself and my two friends. It took place at a local pumpkin patch near my hometown. I choose it because it is one of my favorite photographs of my friends and I. However, it likely does not hold any sentimental or aesthetic value to people not in this photograph.

What cool pictures Emily! The last photo is so pretty!! The light, shadows, and golden aura around everyones hair is so eye catching. I liked that you incorporated the picture of the tubes from a science class, I was debating whether I wanted to post a picture of plates from my courses this semester. The photo of your pup - quite cute by the way - is such a normally modern photo, one you would send to your friend, but I think it is not necessarily a good photo. Thank you for sharing all these photos!
ReplyDeleteEmily,
ReplyDeleteI think your selected photographs paint the story of who/what is important to your essence. This felt like a page from your personal journal, and I believe this was Andy's exact intent with the assignment. Your write-ups clearly illustrated the power these images hold in your heart, and it was a pleasure to view the world through your eyes for these brief moments. Cheers!
