1B: The Physicality of Photographing [Emily Orzechowski]
1) Select a subject that is off in the distance. As you walk towards that subject make a series of photographs of that subject at different distances. Feel free to photograph other subjects as you are walking towards it as well.

2) Find an object or person that you want to photograph. Create an image of your selected subject. Move closer and make another image. Now move in even closer and make a third image. Continue moving closer to your subject making images until your lens will no longer focus on your subject.

3) Create a series of images where you are only looking up.

4) Create a series of images where you are only looking down.

5) Create a series of images where you must crawl under or into something to create the images. For example crawl under a table, desk or chair.

6) Find a subject. Place your selected subject in one of the corners of your viewfinder and make that photograph. Now repeat three more times using the same subject and placing it in the other three corners of the viewfinder.

  1. these are really nice photos, emily! I like your 4 corners photos, its really obvious which corners you intended to include your flowers in. I like the use of the stuffed animals as a prop, that was clever. The contrast of the trees in the looking up photos is eye catching. I think the first photos could have been more similar to each other, in the sense that you maintained the same position and just got closer; however, I still think the pictures are wonderful. Really nice job!

  2. I really love your exercise two it really captures the true beauty of the iris, you have really highlighted the beauty of nature in those two images, I personally love the closer up image more as it shows the greater detail of the petals down the ruffles of each petal. It would have been nice to see exercise one maybe do at a different angle or get even closer in on the first plant, It is still really nice, all of your images are quite lovely.
