#3: LIGHTROOM TECHNIQUE (PHOTOGRAPHING LIGHT) Sydney Nguyen

 Photographing Light: Lightroom Techniques

It was really rainy today so I ventured into a Home Depot in search of light. I applied the edits from the prompt to the photos, in addition to several other edits to improve their visual appeal (I hope)

  1. Sydney, what a creative way to outsource a setting for this assignment! My favorite photos are the masking duo. The shapes are beautiful and the use of the masking to emphasize the light was really smart and, I would say, aggressive, in the sense that you were able to emphasize the main subject. I think the spot removal photos are interesting, for sure. I think it expresses this really modern, over-exposed, dream-like feel. I think that it may be a little too over exposed which takes away from the light being the subject. I think this would have been a good photo to use the brush tool with to highlight the reflections on the plastic wrap. The patterns on the spherical light in the radial filter photos that are reflecting off the white background are so cool. I think your use of editing was able to bring them further into the foreground. Thanks for sharing these photos! :)

  2. Overall your collection of images is quite nice to look at and I love the pure diversity in the images you have. These places truly highlight the use of light and how it can highlight the beauty of the world around us. That being said your image where you use the spot removal, starts with a very wonderful image but then it is somewhat lost since I find it to be very overexposed. The masking images look wonderful as you really ended up highlighting the golden hues of both the light and the structure itself. Overall, again you have very nice images and I look forward to seeing more from you!

  3. I have already made my two comments, but I really just wanted to write something about the photographs you put up. I loved how you went to home depot to take these. That was such a smart idea. I also think that goes to show how unique these photos can look all from one location. I really just loved how you edited your 4th photograph. I have no idea what it is, but the way the light bounces off of it is so appealing to the eye. Great job. :)
