Nick, I love the one of you "smiling". One of the things I struggled with was "saying something" within the actual photograph. I think that image is a perfect example of that. I liked the crop and editing on the photo as well. Definitely made the right choices for that image! Well done. I also really liked your interpretation of the third challenge. Particularly, I liked that last photo with the desk and clock. I love the sense of balance the folders give the image. If I were you I might have darkened the light a bit, or gone completely in the other direction and made it brighter. I also would have had a tighter crop. On the left side, you can a bit next to the folders, but you can not on the right. I would make that equal. I also might have moved the bottom crop line up to the edge of the desk, but that is up to you. Nice job! :)
Nick - I love how creative your images are, I find that I struggled with coming up with creative ways to pose myself or someone else for the images, I feel that you really hit the nail on the head with your creativity. Personally I would find the image of the folders to be more aesthetically pleasing if it was more straight forward. It looks like you took this image at a slight left to right angle, either cropping or just re-taking the image would make it a little bit more nice. I like the tight crop of you in the mirror, though I feel like the vignette makes the image look dark and gloomy. Overall I love your creativity and look forward to your final images.
Nick, Your self-portrait is both whimsical and well-shot! Your inclusion of various fabrics and patterns makes for an interesting composition, leading me to ask wether this came from a family home or a textile shop. You've tinkered with textures/materials in an extremely interesting manner this "semester", and I'm starting to look forward to the work you publish! Keep going!
